The item presented here is a bronze statue of “Muse des Bois” by Eugene Marioton.
Eugène Marioton (1857-1933) was a French sculptor, whose three brothers were all sculptors and all known for their outstanding work.
Eugène Marioton specialised in bronze sculptures, often based on classical subjects such as Greek and Roman mythology and epic poetry.
His works are highly valued, especially in France and other countries, and are actively traded at auctions with high prices.
This work, titled Muse des Bois, depicts a robed woman playing a double flute, and is approximately 71 cm high to the head,
The height to the raised left hand is approximately 82 cm. It has the engraved name Eug. Marioton under the feet.
This bronze statue is beautifully and elegantly crafted with a delicate touch and the supple curves of the woman.
It would look prestigious in an entrance hall or living room.
