井波彫刻の獅子頭を慈光店舗にて販売中です。Lion’s head carved by Inami is now on sale at the Jikoh store.
井波彫刻は1774年（安永3年）番匠屋・九代田村七左ェ門が創設しました。
井波には今なお200名の彫刻師がいますが、これほどまでに人数が膨らんだ背景には「共存共栄」の精神があります。
大正時代まではほとんどが『合作』で、全員で一つの作品制作に取り掛かっていました。それが後継者づくりにもつながったと言われています。
井波彫刻の作品としては、欄間や獅子頭、天神様（菅原道真）像がよく知られており、日常生活で使用する木工品より美術工芸品が制作の中心です。
近年では、若手の作家が龍を纏ったエレキギターなどもあるそうです。その他、井波別院瑞泉寺をはじめ、多くの寺社彫刻を手掛けてきました。
こちらの獅子頭は、金箔仕上でとても迫力があります。共箱の蓋には井波番匠屋 十五代 田村輿八郎 刻 と書かれています。

Inami sculpture was founded in 1774 by Shichizaemon Tamura IX, a banjoya.
There are still 200 sculptors in Inami, and the reason why the number of sculptors has grown so large is due to the spirit of “co-existence and co-prosperity.”
Until the Taisho era (1912-1926), most of the sculptors worked together to create a single work of art. It is said that this led to the creation of successors.
The most well-known works of Inami sculpture are ranma, lion’s head, and Tenjin-sama (Sugawara no Michizane) statues, and the main products are arts and crafts rather than woodwork used in daily life.
In recent years, young artists have also been producing electric guitars adorned with dragons. He has also created sculptures for many other temples and shrines, including Zuisenji Temple in Inami Betsuin.
This lion head has a very powerful gold leaf finish. The lid of the box is inscribed with the inscription “Tamura Kouhchiro XV” (engraved by Tamura Kouhachiro).
