Hagi ware is a traditional pottery produced in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and has a long history and is loved by many people for its beauty and high quality.

A piece with a slit in the takadai (round ring base at the bottom of the vessel) is called a “wari-takadai.

It is thought that this was done in order to give the vessel a more attractive appearance by adding a formative change to the base.

今回ご紹介の品物は、山形県天童市に工場とショールームを構える、株式会社・天童木工のバタフライスツールです。

同じ形の成形合板を二枚つなぎ合わせたシンプルな構造で、天童木工による高い技術によって作られました。

ローズウッドの木目が美しく、蝶の羽を広げたようなフォルムが名前の由来です。個性的なフォルムですが、多様なスタイルのインテリアに合わせられます。

日本の工業デザインの礎を築いたデザイナー・柳宗理によってデザインされ、1956年に発表され、誕生から半世紀以上経つ今でも多くの人々を魅了し続けています。

ルーブル美術館やニューヨーク近代美術館など、世界各地の美術館にコレクションされているデザイン史の傑作と言われています。

The item introduced here is a butterfly stool made by Tendo-Mokko, which has a factory and showroom in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture.

It has a simple structure consisting of two pieces of the same shaped molded plywood joined together, and was made with high technology by Tendo-Mokko.

The beautiful grain of the rosewood wood gives it its name from its form, which resembles a butterfly spreading its wings.

Although it has a unique form, it can be matched to a variety of interior styles.

Designed by Sori Yanagi, a designer who laid the foundation of Japanese industrial design,

it was introduced in 1956 and continues to attract many people more than half a century after its birth.

It is considered a masterpiece of design history and is in collections at the Louvre, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and other museums around the world.

This butterfly stool is now on sale at Yahoo! Auctions.

こちらの油絵は、主に漁港で働く人々の姿を描き続けた、工藤和男の作品です。

漁婦は獲ったばかりの魚でしょうか。赤く大きな魚は絵の具が厚く塗り重ねられ、マチエールがより一層、迫力を生み出しています。

1933年大分県生まれの工藤は、幼少より絵を描くことが好きでした。1962年武蔵野美術大学卒業後、フランス美術賞パリ展受賞をはじめ、日展に選ばれるなど、

数々の賞を受賞。1978年には紺綬褒章（以後4回）を受賞しました。主な作品は大分市美術館や山梨県、愛媛県など、日本各地の美術館に収納されています。

ただ、ひたすらに、働く人を描き続けた工藤。厳しい自然と向き合う逞しさが伝わってきます。作品に込められた作者の思いは、見た目の綺麗さよりも、誇りを持って

This oil painting is by Kazuo Kudo, who has been painting mainly people working in fishing ports.

The fisherwoman is probably a fish she has just caught. The large red fish is covered with thick layers of paint, and the matiere creates an even more powerful effect.

Born in Oita Prefecture in 1933, Kudo has loved painting since he was a child,

In 1978, he was awarded the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon (four times since).

His major works are housed in museums throughout Japan, including the Oita Municipal Museum of Art, Yamanashi Prefecture, and Ehime Prefecture.

Kudo continued to depict working people just as earnestly as he did.

The artist’s resilience in the face of harsh nature can be felt in his works. The artist’s thoughts in his works are not about how beautiful they look,

but more about how proud he is of them.

The artist’s thoughts in his works remind us of the beauty of working with pride, rather than the beauty of the appearance.

今回ご紹介の品物は、平沢 喜之助の油絵です。マチエールで彩られた薔薇の花が、鮮やかな花瓶に飾られています。

よく見ると、幾重にも塗り重ねられたであろう絵の具は、濁ることなく、不思議な沈みと深い輝きが大変美しく表現されています。

平沢喜之助（1919～1994）は、少年の頃から長野県の自然豊かな伊那谷で、沢山の絵を描いて育ちました。東京の美術学校で勉強し、数々の公募展に入選しました。

その後、美術講師も勤めました。

平沢にとって、小泉清のフォーヴィスムとの出会いにより、作品は内面の追求へと変化していきました。

こちらの薔薇の絵についても、目に映る色彩ではなく、心が感じる色彩を表現したと言われる、フォーヴィスムの影響を受けている印象です。

The item introduced here is an oil painting by Kinosuke Hirasawa. Roses painted with matiere are displayed in a vivid vase.

Upon closer inspection, one can see that the paint, which must have been applied in many layers, is not muddy,

but has a mysterious sinking and deep luminosity that is expressed very beautifully.

KINOSUKE HIRASAWA (1919-1994) grew up painting a lot of pictures in the rich nature of Ina Valley in Nagano Prefecture since he was a boy.

He studied at an art school in Tokyo and was selected for numerous public exhibitions.

Later, he also worked as an art instructor.

Hirasawa’s encounter with Koizumi Kiyoshi’s Fauvisme led him to pursue his inner life.

This painting of roses also gives the impression of being influenced by Fauvism,

which is said to have expressed the colors felt by the heart rather than the colors seen by the eyes.
